Hi,

This adapter is powered by USB, does the USB cable have to be connected directly to the PC to work or I can use an external power  (like those USB 2.1A 4xports for smartphones) ?

Good day aksarniit,

Teh USB connector is only for power, so it does not really matter where that comes from, as long as the Adapters can get the draw of power 5V@300mA max.

sure, 300mAmp is 0.3 Ampere so any of the top 3 ports will do have sufficient capacity already

Yes It works, I have the same setup with an external USB adapter that can provide 5V@2A  

Doing this also allows the display to become active more quicker during boot

But the adapter has other issues which i’ll raise in a different thread
