5K (single screen) not working on 1460

I have a 5K monitor connected to 1460 (newest drivers installed) via Club 3D DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 cable, but max resolution is 3840*1080@60Hz. How can I choose/connect 5120*1440@60Hz or other 5K resolutions?

Hello,

Could you specify your entire setup.

computer/notebook in use and the monitor you are trying to connect.

HP Pavillion, 930MX > Clubd3D CSV-1460 > Club 3D DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 cable > Philips 499P9H/00 (49" 5120*1440)

Previous setup was 2 27" 4K monitor

Hi,

According to Displaylink these are the resolution that are supported.

Features

  • 60Hz panel refresh for lowest latency
  • 1x 5120x2880p60
  • 2x 4096x2160p60 or 2x 3840x2160p60
  • 2x 2560x1600p60 or 2x 2560x1440p60
  • Backward compatible with legacy monitors
  • Integrated DP 1.2/DP++ interface
  • Integrated HDMI 2.0 interface
  • HDCP for protected content playback
  • Integrated Gigabit Ethernet
  • Integrated 2.0 audio and 5.1 audio

this would effectively mean that 5120*1440 is a not supported resolution.

The CSV-1460 has the DL-6950 DisplayLink chip. If it can support 4096x2160 then it should be able to support 5120x1440 (fewer pixels).

Did you try downloading the latest drivers 9.3 M0?
https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1485

I found release notes for 9.0 M2 that mentions (but does not describe) a change for 5120x1440 made in 9.0 M0.

Best resolution with latest drivers is 3840*1080@60Hz or 2560*1440 (75 or 60 Hz).
No 5120.

Since DisplayLink makes the driver, you should talk to them.

One question I have: is the 5140x2880 resolution only for dual cable displays (dual DisplayPort 1.2 connection)? In other words, it's actually two 2560x2880 signals.

The only reason I can think of why they might not be able to support 5120x1440 (even though the pixel clock and resolution is less than that of 4K) is because they have some silly 4K limit (2^12) on the width.

Can you post the EDID? You can get that by using Monitor Asset Manager (moninfo.exe). Select the text and copy it into a text file. Just the hex bytes would be sufficient.

Monitor data EDID revision............ 1.3 (checked with direct connection, no docking station)

It's missing the 5140x1440 mode. It appears to be missing 2 extension blocks (each is another 128 bytes, total should be 384 bytes). What port was it connected to? What GPU? What cable / adapter? What utility did you use to get the EDID?

Make sure "PBP Mode" is turned off? (it's more likely that the utility did not grab all the bytes).

Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) utility might be better at getting the EDID.
