Is the CAC-1510-A adapter (HDCP off) for Cinema Display still being made?
Updated on 05-02-2021 in Adapters and Cables.Quick follow-up: I received the CAC-1510-A, and it works perfectly to connect the Apple Cinema HD display (30-inch, from 2004) to a 2020 M1 Mac Mini. This is the adapter with “HDCP OFF.” The display will start up in 1280 x 800 resolution. Don’t let that bother you. Go to System Preferences–>Displays. Holding down the option key as you click “Displays” brings up the panel with “hidden” resolution of 2560 x 1600. Just select that, and you’re good to go. The Cinema HD display is certainly a capable monitor, but note that Big Sur is designed with higher resolutions in mind. Ideally, it wants a 5K display, like Apple’s 5K iMac or LG’s UltraFine 27MD5KL-B. But this adapter from Club 3D will certainly extend the life of a Cinema Display. It’s a fine product at a good price.
