I'm experiencing a bad issue with CSV-1580 used with provided CA power unit on a Macbook Pro M1 2020 and different peripherals (ssd, hdd, monitor, card reader). The host battery get really hot during the use. If I switch to Apple charger issue I get no same issue. I'm afraid the hub doesn't have any sort of intelligent managing of powering and keep send voltage to the host even if it get 100% charge. This could damage my battery and became a serious safety issue. Anyone had same experience? thanks.
CSV-1580 overheating host battery
I don't think that's the way electricity works. It's up to the Mac to not take power when it doesn't need it.
What power does the Apple Charger provide?
The CSV-1580 can supply 60 Watts.
What if you connect both the Apple Charger and the CSV-1580 at the same time? The Mac should choose power from the one that has the most available.
