CAC-1085 & GTX 1070 + LG CX

7 on 06-01-2021

Hi there,

I’m looking to purchase a LG CX for watching movies, series and connecting it to my PC for some gaming from the bed. I have a GTX 1070 from ASUS and mainly use my PG279Q monitor using Displayport.

I’m wondering if I’m able to use the CAC-1085 adapter for 4k120hz gaming with my GTX 1070 and future LG CX? Does anyone run a similar setup?

The TV could end up being 4 to 5 meters away from my PC, so I’m also wondering if I’m able to use a different cable set up than the suggested 2m cable, or would I end up moving my PC?

Thank you for your suggestions!

I would not try to go over the max 2 meters if they say.

I got it to work on my old 1060 6GB and LG C9. But I don’t know if you can get it to work as well.

They dont promote it on these older cards… but if you dont try you would not know.

Hey thanks for you reply! Are you able to show on the nvidia control panel how it’s running?

Not anymore, changed to RX 5700 XT.

Simply put, I was able to select 4K 120Hz, no gsync, 12 bits. HDR I can not remember.

Right, thanks Baak! If I end up purchasing the TV I will probably go for it, don’t see why a digital cable would be influenced by its length, especially if it’s only 5 meters. Unless any employee would be able to tell me why..

Maybe you can find that answer on HDMI it self.

https://www.hdmi.org/spec/hdmi2_1

Bare in mind that the adapter is an Active adapter and this might have influence on the signal over the length… But I think the 5 meter might work… but then again it might not. I don’t know hah just try it 🙂

Without DSC, DisplayPort 1.4 supports 4K 120Hz 10bpc 4:2:2.
If HDMI 2.1 doesn’t work, HDMI 2.0 supports 4K 120Hz 8bpc 4:2:0 (10bpc is required for HDR).

Does the CAC-1085 support 4:2:2 and 4:2:0? It doesn’t say on the product page.

The GTX 1070 doesn’t support DSC but the LG CX does support HDMI 2.1, so if 4:2:2 works, then you should be able to get 4K 120Hz 10bpc 4:2:2.

The 4K120Hz problem with Nvidia drivers – is that because of DSC (which the GTX 1070 doesn’t have) or the timing itself?
