CAC-1170 and Mac Pro late 2013 black screen

I’m trying to get 3840×2160 60hz to work on my Mac Pro 2013. I can get 60hz working up 2560×1440, but not higher. I can see the option in SwitchResX, but when I switch, the screen goes black.

Adapter: CAC-1170
Screen: Samsung LU28E590DS
Card: Dual AMD FirePro D700 6 GB
MacOS: Mojave 10.14.5 (18F132)
HDMI cable: UGreen Premium Certified

Anyone else having this problem, and/or know a fix?

I have tried zapping NVRAM, to no effect, unfortunately.

Hi,

Unfortunately the HDMI connection on the mac Pro is a HDMI 1.4 this only supports 4096 × 2160 at 24 Hz, 3840 × 2160 at 24, 25, and 30 Hz.

Simply said 60hz is not within the line of the port itself so there is no way the adaptor can do @60hz without the source not being able to.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it. This is connected through the Thunderbolt port, not the HDMI port. Does that make a difference?

(The CAC-1170 is Mini DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0)
