CAC 1170, Samsung 7100 4k@60hz works, no audio

My system consists of:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
Graphics Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.2
Samsung UN40JU7100F
Club 3D, CAC-1170, Active Mini DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 Adapter
Club3D, CAC-1310, HDMI 2.0 High Speed 4k/60Hz UHD Cable 3m/9.84′
Switch ResX 4.8.0. x64

I have installed Switch ResX 4.8.0 and have successfully gotten my Samsung to recognize and display 3840 x 2160 @ 60p. In doing so I have successfully disabled SIP, and installed a Custom Resolution in Switch ResX, however with “Use simplified settings: CVT-RB” selected, thus the positive sync. box is not checked. Not sure if this is an issue.

But, the issue is that I have only muffled sound coming from the speakers of my Samsung monitor. When I disconnect from the Samsung the sound using the MacBook speakers works fine. I tried to reinstall the Samsung firmware and that did not fix the audio issue.  Is it necessary for me to update the driver on the CAC-1170?  Btw, I was successfully displaying 3840 x 2160 @ 60p prior using MacOS version 10.10 Yosemite. Then I upgraded to El Capitan and lost the ability to display Chroma 4:4:4.

Please help.

Thank you,

George

Hello MST1407,

Yes, they are working with me. I have fixed all issues with SwitchResX and have even upgraded to their beta version.  It is installed fully and my Samsung is properly displaying 3840×2160/60p. The bad news is my audio is still not working. Under direction from Club3D support today I went to a friend’s Windows 10 PC and updated the driver on the CAC-1170, however after testing it on my home Mac OS the audio is still muffled and unintelligible.

Any suggestions are welcome.

George
