CAC-2504. Cannot see the new monitor.

Hello there,

I have a MSI laptop. Model: https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GL72-7RD/Specification

When connecting the usb-c to my pcs usb-c port (supporting displayport).

I also hear the ”connected” sound when I plug it in. Afterwards I can see the device in the ”device manager” as ”USB-C dongle” and when I update the driver it finds the driver ”Billboard-device”.

But the new monitor dosen’t appear in ”Display Settings”.

Any suggestions to solve my issue?

Regards,

Hi Buster97,

Which display are you trying to connect?

I can’t find which DisplyPort Alt mode is supported by the USB-C.

Does the display work if connected directly to HDMI?

The manual doesn’t say the USB-C port can do DisplayPort output.

It describes the USB-C connector as being able to do that (plus PCIe – which means USB4 or Thunderbolt) but it doesn’t say this particular laptop does anything more than USB 3.x with the port.
