CSV-1582 randomly swaps monitor positions after reconnecting

Hi

we are seeing a reproducible issue with several Club 3D CSV-1582 docking stations under Windows 11.

Setup:

  • Dell Latitude 7450
  • Windows 11
  • Club 3D CSV-1582
  • 2 × Eizo FlexScan EV3895
  • 3840 × 1600 @ 60 Hz
  • Both monitors connected via HDMI to the dock

Problem:

After disconnecting and reconnecting the notebook, Windows occasionally swaps the physical left/right arrangement of the two external monitors.

For example:

  • Monitor A is physically on the left
  • Monitor B is physically on the right

After a few reconnects, Windows suddenly treats them the other way around. This is not just a change in display numbering – the actual desktop topology is reversed, so the mouse has to be moved in the wrong physical direction to reach the other screen.

The issue is intermittent, but reproducible after multiple docking cycles.

What we have already tested:

  • Eizo Compatibility Mode enabled
  • Auto Input Detection disabled
  • “Remember window locations based on monitor connection” enabled
  • Both monitors report unique EDID serial numbers
  • Windows display cache reset:
    • GraphicsDrivers\Configuration
    • GraphicsDrivers\Connectivity
    • GraphicsDrivers\ScaleFactors
  • BIOS, graphics and Thunderbolt/USB4 drivers updated
  • Tested with different monitors
  • Tested with another notebook
  • Tested with multiple CSV-1582 units

The problem occurs with all tested CSV-1582 docking stations.

For comparison, the same kind of setup worked correctly with an HP docking station.

This makes us suspect an issue with the CSV-1582 display/MST enumeration or firmware, possibly related to the VMM5320 MST implementation.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

I would also be interested to know:

  • Is this a known issue with the CSV-1582?
  • Is there a newer firmware available, especially for the MST/display component?
  • Is there a recommended port combination to keep the monitor topology stable?
  • Are there known issues with display enumeration after Thunderbolt reconnects under Windows 11?

Any feedback or suggested tests would be appreciated.

Thanks!
