CAC-1087 Fails HDCP support verification with PDVD 21

7 on 01-10-2024

Hello.

My HTPC supports UHD Bluray playback and I’ve been using a certified Kabeldirekt 10k/8k HDMI 2.1b cable. Due to the restrictions of the hardware setup, the integrated video on my CPU limits me to 24hz using HDMI. Problem is It seems some studios record UHDBD at above 24hz.  As my setup will allows DP outputs at up to 60hz, I wanted to see if the CAC 1087 would allow playbacks at higher frame rates to potentially smooth some disk’s playbacks.

Problem is that after only the cable change, when I try to play a disk, my player says something in the setup is not HTCP compliant. Switch back to the HDMI cable, all is good again. The Club 3d cable was purchased 9/2024 from the Club 3d amazon store & specs show the cable support both HDCP 1.4 and 2.2.

Can anyone offer any insight here?

Setup is:

Mobo – Asus WS-z390 pro

CPU – Intel i5-8600t w/SGX activated

Graphics – Integrated UHD Graphics 630

Display – LG C9

Video Player – PDVD-21

Below is the reply from Club 3d support which is in direct conflict with the published specs for this cable. I advised them of this and waiting for a more informed reply

Hello

Thank you for your mail. We can see that the DP support is DP1.2 and not DP1.4 and therefore DP does not support HDCP2.2

With best regards

Is the support not referring to your iGPU from the UHD630? That apparently only supports DP 1.2?

Just connect DP to HDR monitor and don’t use the adapter, then run Corel’s checktool to check the result. And I guess you can pass HDCP2.2 and HDR test.

Your motherboard already has one LSPCON, so I think the adapter becomes a problem because the processor only allows one LSPCON with HDCP 2.2. So you must solve the 24Hz limitation issue of the LSPCON on your motherboard, and the first step is finding out the spec of your LSPCON chip. However, you have to know not every LSPCON can support 4K60Hz.

@halohalo,

Thanks for the input.

Funny you mentioned the Corel check tool. Some time ago I was looking for a download of this tool and I didnt find it to be available any longer. Where can it be found?

The board has a ParadeTech PS175 LSPCON

The download link:

https://kb.corel.com/en/127793?language=en

The check tool is old so it may not be able to complete SGX compatibility test, however you still can play UHD Blu-ray discs.

Awesome, I’ll check it out. You’ll note from the 3d tech support answer above that my Asus board only supported DP1.2 which I had overlooked.

I found a decent deal on the Supermicro C9z490-PG that supports DP1.4 / HDMI 2.0a (which is the last generation board that supported SGX) and have an email out to Supermicro support requesting Which LSPCON chip they used so I can spec and find out if it supports 4K60Hz. If it uses the Parade PS175 like their C9z390-PG did, it will.
