Dual monitor set up

Hi

Could anyone tell me how I would  link up this monitor 27" LED WQHD 16:9 IPS Monitor with my existing 27inch imac desktop (Late 2013 model) and what cables I would need to do that?, so that I end up with a dual monitor work station.  I have tried the stock advice of plugging in a mini displayport adapter into the imac and running a HDMI cable from that into the back of my Hazro monitor, but I've had no luck with that solution.

Hi Marcel

Thank you for you reply, so what's the difference between your mini DP to HDMI adapter cable and this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B010SDAXUK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 which like I say did not work for me.

Thing is when I tried the cable mentioned above I got a message on the screen saying: 'No display port cable connected' so what's to say I wont get the same message by trying your suggested DP/HDMI cable adapter?

I do appreciate your suggestion its just that I hope you can appreciate that I've brought so many cables up until now and then had to take them back, that I'm running out of patience with the whole trial and error route, so I just want to know for sure that the next cable I purchase will be the right one.

Hi Consecca,
It does state on Amazon that your "Rankie" adapter should support Aplle MAC's ... so that is a bit weird.
I do see that the Adapter you have supports up to 1920x180p so if you are trying to connect that Hazro screen as the second screen then your problem is the resolution. Your screen has a native resolution of 1440p and the adapter does not support more than 1080p. Why don't you just use a Mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable ?
