Need Help – Cannot get 4K@60Hz

Hello,

I recently got a new LG 27UD68-W 4K Monitor and connected my PC and laptop to it. Connected the PC via DisplayPort 1.2 (PC DisplayPort to Monitor DisplayPort) and connected the laptop via DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor, as the monitor only has one DisplayPort (PC connected) and 2 HDMI 2.0.

The problem is I cannot get my monitor to display 60Hz over 4K. It is running PC DisplayPort at 4K@60Hz, but laptop connected via HDMI 2.0 only at 4K@30Hz. I am using a active adapter CAC-1070 (DisplayPort to HDMI2.0) that is rated to output 4K@60Hz and using a HDMI 2.0 cable CAC-1310 capable of 60Hz over 4K. (Both the laptop and PC are capable of 4K@60Hz as I tried connecting them directly to only DP Port on the monitor. PC GFX Radeon R9 290X)

Products I’m using:
Club 3D Display Port 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 UHD (CAC-1070)
Club 3D HDMI Premium Certified 2.0 High Speed 4K/60Hz UHD Cable (CAC-1310) 30AWG 3m
I have tried all possible ways, spent nearly $100 on different adapter and cables, still no luck. I would any help that I can get.

Hi MST1407,

The notebook is HP EliteBook G3 – confirmed working 4k @ 60Hz.

Thank you.

I just read your monitors manual… for UHD 60Hz you have to enable “HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color”.

Hi Stefan75,

I cannot thank you enough!!! Enabled the HDMI Ultra Deep Color in monitor setting and monitor automatically changed to 60 Hz at 4K resolution.

30Hz was very slow and annoying, but now I am really happy that I can enjoy my new monitor.

I really appreciate your help 🙂

Thank you again!
Dave.
