Proper DisplayPort cable?

Hello all,

I just bought a new LG monitor. The issue i have is about the power connection via display port. When i choose the option 1.4 the pc is not booting. When i choose the option 1.2 the pc is booting.
I read that propably i have a cheap DisplayPort cables that violate the DisplayPort standard by having the power connection connected at both ends, which makes my monitor try to power my PC and vice versa.

So can you recommend me a proper DisplayPort cable?
I want to start the pc via the 1.4 option and not to change it manually every time.

Thanks Baak.

I will buy it and let’s hope that it will fix the issue.

I will update if the problem still exists!

What GPU and display you trying to connect?

GPU:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.

Monitor: lG 32GP850-B

Maybe because my GPU supports display port 1.4 ready?

Are your drivers up to date and have you ever run a firmware update on your 1060?

Try this.

It is working after the firmware update. At booting i dont have issue now. I can normally boot with 1.4 option but i can’t boot linux through the GRUB menu (only with 1.2 option).
I have dual boot, i must search if there is a firmware update for linux.

Thank you very much Baak.

Happy to help, unfortunatly I do not use Linux or ever had so I can not help you with that one.

But afaik firmware updates are related to the hardware bios and not so much on it’s operating system. I think you might have more luck on Linux forums with this.

“How to enable DisplayPort 1.4 on GTX1060 useing Linux?” Google that, and it might help you.
