Hi RichyD, yes there is a firmware update available for adapter and while this update improves the compatibility, some hardware configurations remain problematic.
Can you share additional info on your setup? (CPU, GPU, OS).
While your cable seems capable of 18Gbps and thus 4K 60Hz, the reviews on Amazon are mixed with some users stating they can’t get 4K 60Hz out of it..
I’m not sure if any of my colleagies advised this already, if not, please give it a try:
* On many TV’s you need to turn on “UHD Color” or “Advanced Color Setting” manually in the settings of your TV for the HDMI port to which your pc is connected.
* Also it could help when connecting 2 screens, to set the screen connected thru the Adapter as second/secondary screen
* we advise you to make a custom resolution, set resolution to 3840×2160 at 60Hz and set Timing standard to CVT-RB (reduced blanking)
Hi Jordan, it’s (ps176b0) _0x07.0x00.0x23 and dates from early April.
Hi Pal9000, it’s likely this issue is caused by an HDMI cable not capable of 18Gbps. Do you know if your cable is certified for 18Gbps or higher?
Hi tchalikias, unfortunately the adapter will not work if you place a DP to mDP adapter in between. That will interfere with the digital ‘handshake’ between CAC-1170 adapter and Graphics solution.
Unfortunately updating the firmware with Intel hardware remains problematic. We’ve reached out to Intel for a solution but so far there are no developments.
Please note that Intel HD 4XXX and older are not supported, we have quite some endusers who manage to get for example Intel HD 4400 or 4600 working by troubleshooting themselves.
For any (future proof) 4K HDMI experience it’s worthwhile to buy a Premium Certified HDMI cable like our CAC-1310. These are tested to ensure they support the full 18Gbps bandwidth needed for 4K 60Hz while remaining affordable.

Hi Pal 9000. Please share more info on your setup. If you have an HD 7850, it most likely has a normal sized DisplayPort output. If you use a CAC-1170 Mini DP version, do you use some adapter in between to convert from DP to mDP?
Our support team has probably sent you the firmware update, can you let us know if you received it? Thanks!
Unfortunately not! The cables are tricky situation, for long there have been four categories of HDMI cable, of which ‘High Speed HDMI/ High Speed HDMI with Ethernet’ should be good for 4K 60 Hz. In theory that is. Many of the white label/ cheap cables sold do not deliver what they promise and aren’t capable of doing 4K 60Hz.
For that reason the HDMI organization recently announced the ‘Premium High Speed’ certification programme. The Premium certification ensures that the cable has been tested to support the full 18Gbps bandwidth needed for 4K 60. Our CAC-1310 HDMI cable is a premium certified cable.

Hi, what sort of HDMI cable are you using? The issue you describe may be a result of a lack of bandwidth (usually) caused by cables unable to transfer the full 18Gbps needed for 4K60.
Hi kphs, which graphics solution is in your MacBook?
Hi DenisDA, can you check which firmware version your adapter has at this moment? It’s mentioned on the label on the cable of the adapter. Thanks!
Please provide additional info on your setup and current FW version so we can look into it. Thanks!
Hi Emperorjdw, can you check the label of your adapter (assuming it’s a CAC-1070) and confirm the firmware version? We have a firmware update available which fixes many issues with Vizio tv’s. Thanks!
Hi Timothy, the MST Hubs support Dual Mode DisplayPort (DP++) which allows DVI monitors to be connected with passive DisplayPort to DVI adapters like our CAC-1000:
