280x slight artifacts / warranty question as well

Hello, i have been having slight problem artifacting on my royalqueen 280x in some low demanding games such as LoL and SWtoR. i was wondering if removing heatsink would void the warranty as for using ram coolers ( as far as i figure with these 280x ‘s i repaired is that artifacting is due to ram slightly overheating due to overclocking ).

Tnx in advance 🙂

Hi Baxter,
You will not void the warranty if you remove the cooler. If you plan to change your cooler for any reason please keep the original as you will need to mount the original cooler back in place for service.
If you have a 80mm or a 120mm spare fan, please check if you can place it next to the card and run the app that is causing the artifacts to verify if it is the temperature that is causing the problem.

Regards,

well, the artifacts are gone when i underclock the ram, but than it loses the 280X factor that way 😀 hehe… I wouldnt change the cooler yet, i would just add the copper heatsinks to the ram modules 🙂 put a fan directly next to the card to check 🙂

hehehe.. always good to squeeze as much performance as possible with the system. Make sure you do it in small increments.

Also, one more thing, i wanted to ask you if the board is reference, i wanna apply a waterblock sometime next month or so…

Hi Baxter,
We use the reference PCB so it should fit on any water block that is designed with the reference card.
