Flickering and black screen for 0.25s – CAC-1010 – CLUB3D DisplayPort to DVI-D HDCP

Hi there, I hope you’re doing great !

I’ve bought this adapter to try and help me get my 144hz up for my monitor, Acer GN246HL.

First half day went good, but today it seems I get hit with flickering of up to 0.25s turning black and back, and also the snowy screen happened once too like the following : https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91FZ5wqmRNL._SL1600_.jpg

Really like the adapter but trying to look into what I can do to get this properly working.

I9-14900KF,

Windows 11 Pro,

NVidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super,

Acer GN246HL,

Thank you !

Hey Santa! 😊

  1. Does this issue occur at all resolutions and refresh rates?
  2. What type of cable are you using?

Hey Wiktor, thanks for answering.

I use a DVI Dual link cable from my monitor to the adapter.

My monitor is set at 144 hz.

Resolution is 1920 x 1080, 144Hz.

I _THINK_ it seems to happen only when some content is on screen. Namely I was watching Netflix at some point and was getting these flickers.

Thank you

Hi Santa,

Thanks for sharing the details! 😊 Unfortunately, since the cable isn’t one of ours, we can’t provide direct support for the issue. That said, I’d recommend checking out our CAC-1223 DVI Cable – it’s a reliable option for high-quality signal transmission.

By the way, is your monitor’s HDMI port currently in use? If not, switching to HDMI could be a great solution! It’s generally more stable and might save you some trouble in the long run.

Best regards,
Wiktor

Hi Wiktor and everyone,

Thanks for the suggestoin, the monitor does have a HDMI, and is indeed not used since the purchase of Club3D‘s adapter.

Sadly, this HDMI port from the Acer GN246HL is somewhat of an old version of HDMI, which offers no possibility to get to 144hz. Hence the reason to purchase Club3d‘s adapter.

By the way, it works, but when I show some content it then stops to work, so I’m in no doubt the cable works properly, which is the same cable I’ve been using before and that I can properly test on other computers working at 144hz without the issue of course.

Which leaves the adapter, which seems to have had these kind of issue if I look at other posts where it has been suggested to download some files to try different modes on it.

I’m not going to lie, I thought this is where we were going to go supportwise.

Isnt there tools to diagnostic the adapter ?

Thank you !!

I also have the same active adapter display port to dvi and it has the same issue. Based on the other posts it is an issue with the handshake between the monitor and the adapter for hdcp. I emailed the info email to request the utility for a firmware update to the non-hdcp version as this has been the solution for others but never received a reply. Would you please post a link to the utility to update the firmware to the non-hdcp version.

Hi, I had tried the [email protected] a couple of days ago but no reply yet. I know there is a firmware utility they can provide to change from hdcp to no-hdcp mode so I’m wondering why Wilton didn’t provide it. Hoping he will come back on and reply to you. I have the same monitor as you I believe and the exact same issues.
