High VRM temperatures

Hi, my R9 290 RoyalAce purchased in August is under stress displaying VRM temperatures of 100-110°C.
Is this too high or dangerous, if not, how far can it go? Thanks.

I think thats too hot.. fairly sure the 290/290x should max at about 95c under load. Wait for Club to reply though to make sure.

The actual GPU’s sensor never goes above 76 degrees centigrade(custom fancurve), but from what I’ve read the VRM(s) can get quite freaking hot (for example on my ASUS GTX670 DirectCU II it goes 80+ daily, but card itself is sub-60).
Official response through support was.. well.. non-existent; it was basically “Ask about airflow, ignore actual questions.”

Then again the VRM-temps seem to have lowered for some reason to sub-90.

Hi Strongdoctor,
The VRM on this card should max out at 95C, not 110C. If your case properly ventilated? If yes I suggest to service the card and place a note that the VRM gets too hot. Please send me a private message with your serial number so we can check the card when it gets back.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Hi Strongdoctor,
Can you tell us what i the GPU temperature read you get when the VRM is at 100-110?
I have consulted with some engineers and the 100-110 is still in the safe range as long as the GPU temperature does not exceed 95C

I don’t know what’s going on with mine. Under Heaven Benchmark and 3dMark testing, I never get higher than 67 degrees. Our house is normally kept at 68.

Even with AC Unity running on Ultra settings for a few hours, it tops out around 70.

No additional cooling or extra case fans or anything.
