CAC 1070 Optimus HDR stopped working

Hello. I used to have HDR capability from my laptop to my TV, but recently it was lost. Might have been the Windows 10 Creator’s Update. Now when I’m in Destiny 2, I cannot turn on HDR. In the Windows settings, I also cannot turn HDR on.

My laptop is a Sager NP8268-S with an Intel HD 4600 and Nvidia 970m. I’m connecting from displayport to hdmi on a Hisense 55H8C. Enhanced HDMI is enabled on the TV. My hardware is unchanged from when I was able to do HDR.

On a side note, when I’m fullscreen in Destiny 2, I’m locked at 30fps. Fullscreen Windowed allows me to get 60.

How can I get HDR back? Is there a firmware update?

Thanks!

Hello Sykozylot,

I am happily surprised that you were able to use HDR on the CAC-1070, Club3D created the CAC-1080 because HDR was not supported on the CAC-1070. the reason for the lack of this support is because HDR was later introduced on HDMI2.0a that is not supported by the CAC-1070

CAC-1070 specs

CAC-1080 Specs

On the request for a Firmware update there is non because the limitation is within the CAC-1070. the only thing i can think of at the moment that it might have been possible somehow if you used low resolutions and lower frame-rate. however Club3D is clear that the CAC-1070 does not native support HDR. best bet is to contact Microsoft in this case.

would be great if you keep us updated, there is a lot to learn from cases like this, would be good to have your input on the forum.
