Yes, another post on the subject!

In the past I had a CAC-1070 connected to a Nvidia 1080 ti and wasn’t able to get it to output 5.1 to my TV/receiver in 4k. If I dropped it down to 1080p or connected it directly to the hdmi port the option showed up.

Fast forward 2 years I am now running a 2080 ti and so I bought a CAC-1080 and am still having the same problem. It has the latest firmware, I want to like Club3d adaptors as they look like they should be great, but the forums seems to be filled with lots of the same issue. Why don’t they output the correct info, a 2080 ti should be good enough I would think?

It’s a Samsung KS8000 via a Onkyo TX-NR555 receiver, works fine via direct hdmi from the card.

What about connecting it without the TX-NR555 receive in between does the adapter work?

Yes the adaptor works fine for video to the tv and receiver just no 5.1 sounds in 4k like I said.

I have tried multiple cables, ports, settings and options and through the CLUB3d adaptor 1070 or 1080 it wont give me 5.1 audio at 4k. Directly into the video card it works fine no problems. 100% the adaptors not working on now 2 generations of top end Nvidia cards.

I’m having the same issue with a CAC-1080 and a NVidia GTX1080, I get 4K@60Hz and HDR but only 2.0 sound. I’m connecting to an Onkyo RT-550 and Samsung KS8000.

Straight to the HDMI on GPU I get 4k@60Hz and HDR with 5.1 or 7.1 sound.

Additionally, I’m not able to get 4:4:4 at all with CAC-1080. Only options available when using the just RGB (8 bit, limited and full), 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 (8, 10 and 12 bit, limited only)

I gave up on Club3d and tried some other vendors, sadly they had the same issue. The Plugable support guys were much more helpfully and even sent me a few different versions for free to test, but in the end they said. “Unfortunately many DisplayPort to HDMI adapters will not work as expected when connected to receivers, this can be caused by incorrect automatic negotiation between the receiver, adapter, and graphics card or limited bandwidth”. What they suggested, but I haven’t tried yet is a DP to HDMI cable and forgoing the adaptor route. If you have any luck let me know, I’m just currently using the HDMI port and swapping manually if something else needs to use it.
