GPU Display Port 1.4 to LG34WK95U with USB-C CAC-1557

Updated on 22-04-2020 in USB Type C

Hi,

when i connect the CAC-1557 to the USB-C port of my LG34WK95U (max res. 5120×2160@60Hz) Monitor and the 1.4 Display port to a nvidia gtx gpu, i don’t get any signal! When i reverse the cable everything works fine. The specs of the cable claims that it should work in both configurations with 8k@60Hz res. Are there any limitations of the cable or other reasons why it doesn’t work in my case?

Hi,

thanks for your answer.

I purchased the cable 2 weeks ago. Is there a way to checkout the firmware version?
When i connect the cable to the USB-C port on my linux pc and list the cable usb device  properties, i get the following output:

P: Vendor=0639 ProdID=7213 Rev=00.00
S: Manufacturer=Chrontel
S: Product=Billboard
S: SerialNumber=CH7213

maybe this can help you to figure out the firmware version.

Hi,

according to the Club3D website the product is supported by the following OS:

Apple OSx

Windows

Chrome OS.

you could try to send a mail to [email protected] and request firmware however they are generally pretty accurate in what OS is supported.

Hi,

update!

I want to share the current status of this topic.

After i received a firmware update (new version 01.06.03, old version 01.05.01) the cable works with the following issues

1. I have to plug in the USB-C connector to the monitor first and then the display port to the GPU. When i plug in the display port first and USB-C second, the monitor doesn’t get any video signal.
2. After connecting the cable in the “right order” it doesn’t always have the right resolution of 5120×2160@60. sometimes its limited to 5120×2160@30, 3840×2160@60, 3840×2160@30 or no signal at all. I have to repeat the process, as described in 1., until i have the right resolution.
3. When i restart or power on the pc, the monitor has no video signal during booting and later on in windows. i have to disconnect the cable and connect as described in 1 always with issue 2..
5. when i switch the video input source in the monitor between 2 pc’s, one connected to the display port and one to the USB-C port, the video signal on the USB-C port is gone and i have to go to 1. and 2..
4. When i am lucky and have the right resolution and start a video game the monitor goes black and the video signal is gone, so go to 1. / 2..
