Hi all,
Finally got the adaptor to work for the first time since early/mid last year. My question now is whether the cac-1070 can support HDR over DP to HDMI? Anyone know?

Ouch. Is this something that could be added via a firmware update in the future? It would be very welcome! ME Andromeda has a HDR option on pc and would love to try it out!

I am starting to doubt it can be added thru firmware, but have no confirmed info on that yet. I will palce you on the “HDR” list as well to send you update you whenever i have new info on that.

Any update on the possibilty of HDR working with the cac-1070 adapter ?

Hello Dnichols48,
No positive feedback on that unfortunately. It does not look good though, there is good chance a firmware update is not going to do the “trick”and we might even have to start up a new product for this to work in a proper manner. I di not see any such new product on the roadmap yet, so this will not become available in the next 3 months …

Ok thanks for the response.

Is outputting 4k at 10bit 4:2:0 the same as providing a full HDR signal?

I believe my CAC-1070 is outputting 4k at 8bit 4:4:4 (did a chroma text test), however my HDR mp4 files don’t look quite right.

Hi edirol,
No that is not the same. The CAC-1070 unfortunately does not support HDR.

Hi MST1407,

Do you know if this is a limitation of DisplayPort or the adapter itself?

From the wiki page DP 1.2 doesn’t support HDR, but DP 1.4 does and the CAC-1070 is a DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 adapter.

Not sure if it is the receiver or transmitter chip inside, sorry. We hoped that R&D would be able to add HDR support with firmware update, but unfortunately this seems more complex than I thought and (so far) not possible. It does not show on the roadmap yet, but it only seems logical that the next step will be such an adapter with support for DP1.4 and HDR support … but this will most probably nor become available in the next 4 to 5 months …
