Mid 2014 Mac Book Pro to Samsung UE40S9 TV 60Hz

Hi,

I’m trying to get a 60Hz connection between my Mid 2014 Mac Book Pro and a Samsung UE40S9 but it only seems to do 24Hz. I’ve included links to the parts I’m using below. I’ve gone through the menus on the TV turned off every sports or motion feature and enabled 4:4:4 UHD. First question is, have I bought the wrong connectors? Secondly what should I be looking for in the TV menu or on the Mac to get 60Hz.

Hi Mark,

Cable looks ok to me.
Please make sure your to have set to On for support up to UHD 50P/60P 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 input signals. 
Also please make sure the HDMI input you are using is capable of 4K at 60Hz (not laways all the HDMI input are).
It often works best to make a custom resolution so you are able to not only choose 3840×2160 at 60Hz but also set the Timing Standard to CVT-RB. You might need a program like SwitchResX for that.

Thanks for your reply – though I’m still banging my head against a wall with this!

I have set my HDMI inout to be UHD. One slight complication is that the TV has a samsung one connect mini with all the HDMI ports on that then plugs into the TV. I’ve not found anything that suggests these are anything but HDMI 2.0.

I’ve used SwitchResX to create a custom resolution, which seems to be working but I still get the same mouse lag I was getting at 24Hz. Is there any way of viewing the current refresh rate outside of SwitchResX to verify it?

I’ve checked and all HDMI ports on the One Connect support 4k at 60Hz
