Question : Damaged R9 290 Royal Ace

I received my brand new R9 290 Royal Ace yesterday. Unfortunately, as I unpacked the card, I noticed it was physically damaged. It seems that one of the edge of the expansion slot cover that slides between the case and the motherboard is bent. (See pictures here <a href="http://imgur.com/a/FEW8Z#0″>http://imgur.com/a/FEW8Z#0 ). In its current state, I cannot use the card since it won’t plug into the PCI-E slot of the motherboard, as the bent edge collides with the MB.

My question is: Am I allowed to use pliers and try to unbend the edge by myself without voiding the warranty? Or do I have to RMA the card to the place of purchase and wait 2+ weeks before I get a new one?

Thanks for your answer

Hi,
We are very sorry to hear this.
Can you tell us if the retail box was damaged?
Yes, you can use the plier to bend it back in place, it will not void the warranty.
Regards

Hi Paul,

thank you for the answer. Glad to know it won’t void the warranty. I’ll try using pliers when I get back from work and see how it goes.

The box was actually in good condition. Not perfect, but there was no major tears or deformations. Mostly some minor color blemish.

Thanks again for your answer.

Thank you for your response.
We wanted to  know if the damage was caused by transport or by the factory. Now we know.
Thanks a lot for your feedback and enjoy!
