Is it possible to use this product:
https://www.club-3d.com/de/detail/2379/usb-3.0-active-repeater-cable-10-m-32-ft-male-female/with
Ubuntu 18.04?
The datasheet does not list Ubuntu under the supported OS. But if no drivers are needed to use the cable then what could go wrong with using the cable with Ubuntu?

Hi Blange,

it is not possible to use this product with Ubuntu. From what I understand Linux USB A ports are designed for peripheral use and not for data transfer. Could you check if thats the case with  your device? If it supports data transfer then you could use the CAC-1402 as specified

Thank you for your reply.
I want to use the USB A 3.0 for video data transfer.
The device I want to use over a distance > 3m is the
ZED Stereo Camera from Stereolabs ( https://www.stereolabs.com/zed/ ).

Which source provided you with the information that USB A is for peripheral use only?
I mean it already works with a cheap active USB 3.0 cable, but I need it to work over a greater distance.

If it supports data transfer then you could use the CAC-1402 as specifiedFrom CLUBBIE

What do you mean with “it” ?

Best regards
blange

Hi Blange,

The cable should work since the ZED stereo is able to transfers data, stated on the website of ZED stereo.

I do advice to use the external power adapter that comes with the CAC-1402 since the video is in High Quality.

best regards
