Mac Pro 2019 (7,1) and Apple Cinema 30

We have several Mac Pro towers at our studio and 6 old (but still great!) Apple Cinema 30″ Displays. As we move from Mac Pro (5,1) series to (7,1) we bought 3 of your USB C to Dual Link DVI-D Adpaters. They give great picture BUT there is a dealbreaker problem – Mac Pro stutters for a half second every 8 seconds or so when we use your adapter. It’s not usable this way. Is there some workaround or maybe firmware update?

Thank you very much for your time!

I dont’t have a hub, but I have tried all 8 ports! They all work, but also they all have the same issue of stuttering after 8 seconds for half a second. Some of Apple Cinema Displays are early 2005. models and for some I don’t know the series as they were bought used. We have them 6 in total.

I downloaded you firmware updater, I’ll install Windows and try it out. Thank you very much for your very agile and kind support!

You can use SwitchResX to get the EDID of the display and the product ID.

Hi! Just to report that your advice solved the problem! There was a big problem to install Windows on Mac Pro in that setup because installer had no video, so I had to borrow a cheap HDMI display just for the Windows install. When I got there, your firmware updater worked as expected and when I rebooted to MacOS the stuttering problem has gone! Thank you very much, your support is ace! 🙂
