As the title says, just wondering of the CAC-1085 ouput will support my HDMI 2.0 TV or is it only good for 2.1 output?  If it will work, what range of resolutions can I expect?

My brain is melting trying to figure out specs and compatibility issues!

Thanks for any insight.

The older TV I would be connecting to…  https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-43UJ6200-4k-uhd-tv

So 4K @ 60Hz and my card is a 1080Ti.

Hi Rolln,

You don’t need a CAC-1085 for that setup, just a HDMI 2.0 cable will be able to do 4K60Hz.

The 1080 has HDMI 2.0 and so does the TV. Get a CAC-1310 and you are set.

Hey Baak,

Thanks for the reply.

I actually have 3 of these TVs to connect so one of them will have to use the 1080s Displayport output and the other 2 can utilize an HDMI 2.0 cable as you suggest. I’m hoping to upgrade to a 3090 soon which most only have 2 HDMI 2.0 outputs plus a couple Displayport 1.4 ports. This is why I was asking about the CAC-1085, I will need something for the 3rd TV connection.

I guess my main concern is if the CAC-1085 is backwards compatible. It’s rated for HDMI 2.1 and Displayport 1.4 but will it work with HDMI 2.0 and Displayport 1.4?

Hi Rolln,

If you get an RTX3090 those are HDMI 2.1 but the TV’s are still HDMI 2.0. The HDMI 2.0 cable will still be enough to connect from HDMI to HDMI.

If you want to connect the DisplayPort1.4 to the HDMI2.0 You will want to use the CAC-1080. It’s cheaper and does what you need and can.

The CAC-1085 also works with HDMI 2.0 displays.

Is there any feature difference between the CAC-1080 and CAC-1085 in regards to HDMI 2.0b support? We can ignore DSC because DisplayPort 1.4 has more bandwidth than HDMI 2.0.

Maybe the CAC-1085 doesn’t do horizontal expansion (whatever that’s good for?) or some color transformations (like 4:2:2 to 4:2:0 which might be useful if your source is DisplayPort 1.2 which does not support 4:2:0 and the TV doesn’t support 4:2:2)?
