Recently Purchased a 1087 HDMI to DisplayPort Cable 4k120HZ or 8k60hz HDR10 Cable

Once installed to TV and to PC it would detect the 4k, but the when trying to get to the 120hz Refresh I would lose signal on the TV.

The TV, and GPU drivers are all updated, as both support HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4. After a while of switching DIsplay ports on my PC it still wouldn’t go to 120hz, and the picture at 4k was enlarged and not properly fitting on the screen either. Went to unplug the cable and the HDMI part that was attached to my TV was Hot, but not burning hot.  What are my next steps in either trying to get it figured out a working solution, or to return the product to Amazon, and get a refund.

Which GPU?

Which PC?

Which TV?

Which port of the PC is the adapter connected to?

Does the TV have a PC mode?

GPU is a 6700xt

PC is custom built

TV is LG C3 Oled 42 it’s set for pc mode.

HDMI is plugged into the TV, Display into the GPU.

Also to mention that when I’d switch to 1440P or even 1080 I couldn’t get 120fps without the TV losing connection and having to drop it down to 60fps.

Check the EDID to see if it advertises a 4K120 mode.

How do I go about checking the EDID with AMD?

CRU is a utility that can get the EDID and override it https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU

You can take the hex from the exported EDID and decode it using edid-decode of linux or macOS (or maybe there’s a Windows version somewhere).

I’m on Windows, but I think it’s a defective cable. I used it on another monitor and I can get 144 at 1080P. I can swap the resolution on the monitor to say 1440 or Even 4k, but it’ll drop down to 30hz. If I go back to 144hz it goes straight back to 1080p and stays there. I have AMD RSR activated so I should be able to go the other resolutions with ease. I’m also not to comfortable messing with Regedit to adjust the EDID code.

Are you plugging the cable into the GPU or Motherboard? 4K30Hz hints to DisplayPort 1.2. Used quite a lot on motherboards.

It’s going through GPU. My GPU is 1.4

That is my gpu, sure it’s not rated for 4k gaming, but I should be able to play at 4k and use FSR to upscale image quality.

This is also the TV I have that’s my 4k TV.

My secondary monitor is an LG

is my second monitor. With RSR enabled I enable it to 1440.
