I have an Inspiron 15 – 3000 series with an Intel HD Graphics adapter. Onboard connecivity via HDMI.
I am thinking of purchasing a “USB 3.0 to DVI-I and HDMI Graphics Adapter”.

Is it possible to combine both onboard graphics and the USB Graphics adapter to potentially connect three monitors?

Hi Xpression2020,

Yes that should be possible.
Most Notebook manufacturers do have a build in limitation for the amount of external screens the notebook will support, but i have not heard of notebooks supporting less than 2 external screens ..
The USB2.0 will only allow you to ouput 1 x 1080p, so you will need to use the USB3.0 ouput on the notebook to be bale to do 2 x 1080P 60Hz.
First install software and when done connect the Extenal Graphics Adapter.
