Macbook Air – problem with Dell Ultra sharps monitors

Hi,

I’m trying to connect 2x 24 inch Dell Ultra sharps monitors to my macbook air early 2015.

My current setup is:
– MacBook Air is connected to the included CAC-1110
– The CAC-1110 is connected to the CSV-5400
– The first port of the CSV-5400 is connected to the Displayport of my Dell U2410
– The second port of the CSV-5400 is connected using a CAC-1000 to the DVI-D port of my Dell 2405fpw

The problem I’m having in this setup is that the first display works and is recognized by the OS but the second display some scrambled image and shift to a black screen 2: DVI-D Cannot display this mode. There is no detection for this screen even if I press the scan button.

If I inverse port 1 and 2 I’m getting the U2405fpw recognized but not the U2410 by the OS. In this setup, The two screens are displaying the very same image even if the mirror mode is disabled by the OS.

How can I make this works ? Any firmware that I can flash? Is this a software or hardware problem?

Hi,
I am afraid that this is an OS problem. If you install Windows it will work without issues.

You are right Paul,

It is in fact working with Windows 10 using Bootcamp which point to a software problem on mac OSX. My two screen are detected as 1920×1200@60Hz + the display of the MacBook Air at 1440×900@60Hz.  Beside the two monitor being recognized, I’m getting a small piece of the screen (around 300px) offseted to the right with a pink vertical line on the U2405fpw.
