MST-Hub after DP-Splitter

I have 3 Monitors on my desktop with a resolution of each 1920×1200.
Now i have a racing rig with the same monitor-setup and i want to mirror the 3 desktop-montors to the 3 simrig-monitors. Actually i use a second GPU for the 3 extra monitors and set them as mirrors of the 3 desktop-monitors (Windows 11).
But this comes with some incompatibilities on the softwareside and sometimes the “two main monitors” (both middle monitors) loosing its mirror and i have to remirror it in the windows-display-settings.

Is it possible to have a 2-port-displayport splitter (with switchbutton), and from each port from there a mst-hub (so i can switch between to one of the 3-monitor-setup)?

With a racing sim, don’t you want to have the 3 displays shown as 1 big display?

Mirroring will have you end up with 3 of the same images.

It is not advisable to go MST after splitter. It messes up the bandwidth.

You have 6 monitors? There is a limitation on the GPU on how many monitors it can run most of the time. Monitors Specs? (make model)

What GPU(s) do you use?

Hi Baak, thanks for your reply.

  • With a racing sim, don’t you want to have the 3 displays shown as 1 big display

no i play with in VR (HP Reverb G2)

  • Mirroring will have you end up with 3 of the same images.

on my desk i have 3 Monitors (extended, not mirrored) – i want to mirror this setup to my other 3 displays – so basically i have two times the left monitor, two times the middle, and two times the right monitor. Yeah i know, an unusual setup…

I have tried using simple hdmi-splitter (3 times, for each display), but theses splitter have problems with 1920×1200, maybe they work better with 1920×1080.
The Monitors on the Desk are 3x Lenovo Thinkvision LT2452p 24,0
The Monitors on the Rig are 3 x https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B09NSDL66S

I have a 3080 Ti

I see. The issue with the simple HDMI splitter works only with 1080p is because it uses a DP1.2 to HDMI 1.4 connector on the MST. Limiting it’s bandwidth.

With the CSV-7300, the Lenovo Thinkvision LT2452p 24,0 can be covert to the desired resolution.

Adding a CSV-7200H you can cover 2 HDMI displays.(Thinlerain 10.1 Inch)

And direct connect 1 display over HDMI to your 3080TI?

Will it work? I don’t have the slightest idea 🙁 very unusual setup it is!

Then again, I don’t know if Windows even allows 2x2x2 mirroring :/

2x2x2 mirroring works only with 2 GPU’s, but unfortunately this has some disadvantages. Some Overlays doesnt work in VR with in the Displaysettings-mirrored-Displays 🙁

Looks really cool! Are there not more people with this issue?

Maybe a KVM?? It does what you want but it will turn one side off.

To bad I’m not into Sim racing, but man it looks cool!

Nvidia GPUs can only connect 4 displays each.

What if you somehow combine 3 monitors to make them appear as a single monitor?
https://www.matrox.com/en/video/products/gxm/triplehead2go-series/dp-edition
But that one only supports two 1920×1200 displays…

Do the Matrox devices use the ViewXpand feature of a Synaptics MST hub?
https://uploadcdn.oneyac.com/attachments/userfile/b4/13/1593672494627_4765.pdf

I can’t find any documentation on ViewXpand. What is the max resolution of ViewXpand? Can it be controlled by software to override the MST features of the hub and make it work as SST? Otherwise it seems like it would only work from a DisplayPort 1.1 port that doesn’t support MST and is limited to HBR link rate. Maybe it works at HBR2 link rate but only if the port doesn’t support MST…

Maybe there are better video wall processors that will support three 1920×1200 displays. There’s a Chinese product named “BIT-MSE-4K60-104PRO”. Is it real? Does it work? I don’t know. Seems expensive? You would need two of them.

Anyway, once the displays are combined, then you can connect both combined displays to Nvidia to mirror them.
