Does CAC-1070 work with Intel HD4600?

Hi,

Just got the adapter and it unfortunatly does not do 4k@60hz on my laptop with an HD4600. I am able to put out 4k@60hz through dp 1.2 to a 4k monitor fine.

I have read a couple other reports of HD4600 not working, will there be a fix?

Thanks

I’ve got the same problem too with HD4600 on two PC’s.

Theres apparantly a firmware update for the adapter but whether this fixes the issue with Intel GPU’s I am unsure.  I’ve emailed Club-3D requesting the firmware update.

Hopefully a firmware update will get this up and running.

Hi all,

Infortunatly the firmware update does not seem to fix all problems in combination with Intel HD4600 Graphics.
Users have not seemed to be bale to set the color to lower than 16Bits or 32Bits int he driver or Groahics Control Center form Intel.
This is necessary if you want to run 3840×2160 at 60Hz in 4:4:4 you cannot run higher than 8Bits and in 4:2:2 not higher than 12Bits. Otherwise the signal takes more bandwidth than 18Gbps which is the max for HDMI2.0.

You are welocme to try the firmware update, please send an email to [email protected] for that.

Thanks

I don’t understand. 32bit setting means 8 bits per channel.

Hi, unfortunately it is the Intel driver which is causing issues and isn’t supporting 4K60 over the CAC-1070. The firmware update for the 1070 solves some compatibility issues and updates the EDID handshake but is not resolving the Intel driver issue.

We are not sure if there will (ever) be an Intel driver update or workaround which should get devices with Intel HD 4400 or 4600 graphics to output 4K60 via our CAC-1070.

For the firmware update please send a mail to [email protected] with your name, email address and details of your setup, but please note that some users already reported issues updating the firmware (using Intel Graphics).

So it will most likely never be fixed?

Hi Ritterbutzke,
I am not sure but did not receive feedback from Intel yet why it is that the graphics cannot be set to 8 bits. Should not be all that difficult i would think …

Why is the adapter sold (and still being sold) as compatible with Intel HD Graphics? Everyone who I have seen try it with any Intel Graphics (even the newer chipsets) does not appear to have had any success.

Surely this was tested pre release for you to have said it was compatible.

Ive spent £60 on two of these adapters.

Liam, Did you get it working with Intel HD 4600 Graphics (4th gen) on win7?  I could not find the drivers you seem to have.  The 15.36 series drivers seems to be the latest to work with win7/4th gen.  The newer 15.40 series for 4th gen is only available for win10.

I do have it working at 30hz. My monitor is a Sony XBR X830C (hint: had to use hdmi 4 to get it to do 4K).

Thanks.

Hi BBach,
Did you manually set the Setting for the HDMI input you use to “Enhanced” ?

Bud, I haven’t tried Win 7 in quite some time. Now is a good a time as any to kick the tires of Win 10 methinks 🙂
