Bandwidth wise that fits yes. However i dount that your notebook will do that. Most notebooks are limited to use of 3 screens in total. Since you notbaook alreadu has its own screen, you are normally not able to conenct more than 2 external screens. Sometimes you can disable the Notebook screen and use 3 external screens. You will need to check that with notbook manufacturer.
Displayport or Mini Displayport is specs wise identical jsut a smaller connector.
Hi AussieTC,
Yes that works just fine 🙂
Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04 are supported and have driver support available.
did not test that here no
Hi Chkenwing,
It could very well be that the DP to HDMI adapter you now have is limited to that frequency. Our most advanced DP to HDMI adapter apllicable to this case is the CAC-1070. It is a DP1.2 to HDMI2.0 Active Adapter that supports resolutions up to 3840x2160p at 60Hz , and although i did not test it (dont have an LG23MP68VQ here), i cannot imagine that it does not support 1080p at 75 Hz …
Make sure ot use a good quality HDMI Cable, preferrably an Premium High Speed version or with support for 18Gbps (liek our CAC-1310).
Hi Mudson,
You want to make a single large surface or in other words spread the picture over 3 monitors ?
Hi DDalamarinis,
Due to dust etc. it could be that the fan is working less efficient, regularly cleaning your system on the inside would help on most cases. Replacing the Cooling paste in between the GPU and the Cooler itself can also make a big difference.
When removing the cooler from the board please warm up the card first by using it for about 10 minutes. This makes it easier to remove the cooler. Romove old cooling paste with a tissue ro something like that , and aplply new paste only on the the GPU (dont let it spill off the GPU so you wont need that much paste).
Asol AMD drivers after 16.8.3 have many adjustments for RX400 series but to my knowledge nothing much for HD7800 series, so it is very well possible that your card will run better on a “older” driver like the 16.8.3.
Best regards,
Hi Gurgelhals,
That should work yes. DP1.1 has enough bandwidth to send 2560x1440p at 60Hz over and the adapter can certainly do that.
then you should be good to go …
there are many issues with AMD Drivers after 16.8.3 in combination with R7/9 200 and 300 series. All driver after 16.8.3 have may adjustement for RX400 series but non that i know of for R7 / 9 200 and 300 series. In fact there is a good change your R9 390X will actually run better on 16.8.3 than on newer drivers.
Hi jtm,
Yes often you will need to use somthing like a “Game Mode” for the TV to be bale to handle 4K. at 60Hz, so if you TV has that, please enable such Mode.
In “HDMI Land” normally “High Speed” means up to 1920 x 1080p at 120Hz max
and “Premium High Speed” would normally mean up to 3840x2160p at 60 Hz max.
Now that is not a law, but i alwasy advice to get a good cable becuas ethat makes a world of differrence. Does not mena you need to spend a lot of money, if you do know of any cable that is very good we also offer a good HDMI cable with CAC-1310 item code. That is a by HDMI.org certified Cable for HDMI2.0 / 18Gbps / 4K 60Hz of 3 meters / 9.8 feet.
Hi Variable,
Yes that should be possible, but i think you will need to have a DP1.3 output on the PC System …

Hello Wazer,
We have not tested this nut i dont see why that would not work.
I mean a 1920x1080p signal at 144Hz or even 2560x1440p at 144Hz fits over DP1.2 ouput, and the MST Hub can do Stream Cloning, meaning it can stream a single video signal to 2 outputs. This way you will not be using it as an MST Hub but as a SST Hub …
Signals are generated by the system, not the MST HUB, however in case of use in SST Mode, the system will be making one signal.
Hope that answers your questions.
Hi JTM,
Yes the CAC-1504 works on a MacBook Pro 2016.
Please make sure the HDMI cable is capable of doing 4K at 60Hz / 18Gbps.
Check the Philips Monitor for settings like “Game Mode”and/ or “UHD Color Mode” or sometimes it even helps to enable the “DP1.2” which i normally factory default at DP1.1.
What cable do you have (Brand and Type) ?
No driver required and you most probably already have firmware version 0x26 which should work just fine.
Hello GlobalAlien,
Sorry but AMD does not have driver support for X800 series after Vista.
I know that some “work arounds” can be found online …
