295×2 cannot run more than 3 monitors?

i was thinking about trying to have it run 5 monitors in a row, to just have everything open, and run an eyefinity of the center 3 when i’m gaming. Currently i’m only using 3 monitors, but is that setup possible?

I’ve tried running 4 with a single active adapter, but it still won’t let me run more than 3.

Hi Link2110,
The 295X2 has 4 MiniDP and a standard DVI port. If you do not have DP displays you can run 1xDVI and 1x DP without active adapters. From the 3rd monitor till the 5th you need to use active adapters.

I’m using an active adapters on all 4 other mindp ports and a DVI cable for the 5th.  I still can’t run more than 3 monitors. in CCC it asks me to disable a monitor to activate another, and the same in windows.

Hi Link,

Thank you for your reply. Can you detail me the make and model of the active adapter?

Startech MiniDP to HDMI (MDP2HDS)

I also have a couple that are probably not active but I tried anyways, nGear MiniDP to HDMI (59727) http://secure.ncix.com/products/productdetail2.cfm?sku=59727&promoid=1416

And the one that came with the card, which appears identical to the nGear ones, just black instead of white.

I think the nGear adapters and the one that came with the card are just passive adapters.

Hi Link,
The one that comes with the card is just a passive adapter.
The Startech seems to be an active adapter, if you are using this adapter on all 4 Mini DP ports you should have picture.
nGear it is passive.

I am using the Startech adapter on all 4 MiniDP ports, but I am only allowed to have 3 monitors active at any time. It can be any combination of monitors, but only 3/5 monitors are allowed to be active at any given time thru CCC or windows. How do I get them all to be active at the same time?

Hi Link,
Sorry for the late reply.
If you have active adapters and you get no display there must be something wrong in the driver setup.
Please remove all the catalyst software in safe mode and reinstall again. Check if the latest Catalyst driver is causing this problem and if yes, use the Catalyst 14.9 to see if that is the case.
Kind regards,

I am currently using 14.12, but I can try with the 14.9 drivers.
