I have sound with your CAC-1070 adapter & Cinema Series HDMI cable w Ethernet “3d in 4k((4096 x 2160) @ 60Hz” is what box cable came in says.
Here is the problem, I play Skyrim The Elder Scrolls – the only game I have ever played on this PC which is used just for the TV = “DVD / Netflix / Youtube etc..

I have sound playing Skyrim at 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz

I have no sound with anything ELSE – Youtube Netflix DVD’s VLC media, in chrome or IE matters not, not even a simple music vid has sound at all.

I revert back to my old DisplayPort cable & 1080 I have sound in everything, My son & I are confused on this one. cable was bought new a week ago through amazon

My system has 32g of DDR & Win 10 64bit – any ideas?

Hi Dragonborn,
Indeed a weird one !

I would advise you to do this:

–          AMD Divers

I have heard quite a few strange behaviors with regards to Radeon HD series cards in combination with AMD Drivers after version 16.8.3. I know AMD made many driver updates after that, however all aimed at RX400 series and non that I know of for HD / R7/9 200/300 Series.

I do hear end-users with HD / R7/9 200/300 series Cards reporting that 16.12.2 (or later) also works quite decent for them.  Especially when using the upgrade feature to update drivers can give issues, because old files can remain in the registry of windows and can be “in the way”. Please make a new clean driver installation to make sure that part is ok.

Please uninstall the current Graphics driver and all related Graphics software like Afterburner/GPU-Z or whatever graphics related software you might have installed. Best way to remove Driver Software is to boot Windows in Safe mode, so the registry can also be cleaned. When you system does not allow you to do that, you can also use a program like DDU to remove such software:  http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/

Reboot and manually download and install 16.8.3 graphics driver (don’t let auto installer from Windows do that)  You can find here:  http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous/detail?os=Windows%2010%20-%2064&rev=16.8.3
or
a newer version if you prefer … (but please do not use any driver from 16.9.1 ~ 16.12.1); here you can find listing of drivers …
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous?os=Windows%2010%20-%2064

After this done, just boot system.

It often works best by making a custom resolutoion for 3840×21060 at 60Hz with Timing Standard set to CVT-Reduced Blanking for use with TV and for use with Monitor you can leave that on “auto”.

I will ask [email protected] send you the latest firmware for the adapter as well.

Awesome – updated the FW & installed those 16.8.3 drivers and I have sound playing at 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz with everything, I really like to thank everyone for the support on this.
My son has newer drivers yet with his AMD Radeon (TM) R9 and it would not display at all in either 3840 or 4096 using these cables, so the driver issue is greater than realized IMO.

Again Thank you hope this post helps others.

Ron
