Does the CAC-1069B support 1440p at 240/280Hz?

Hello.

I initially bought a generic DisplayPort 1.4 cable off Amazon for my Alienware AW2723DF 280Hz monitor.

When I set the refresh rate to 280Hz, the screen has extreme flickering and it is not usable. It is stable at 240Hz.

Please note that the DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor is able to display 280Hz without any issues. Unfortunately, the cable is too short for my needs.

I then decided to purchase the CAC-1069B because it was recommended to me by someone else. They told me this cable was VESA certified and should suit my needs.

Unfortunately, when I use this cable, 280Hz and 240Hz do not even come up as an option. The highest option is 144Hz.

My graphics card is an RTX 4090 ROG Strix so it supports DisplayPort 1.4a.

Also, when I check the refresh rate settings in Windows 11, I see the HDR certification only says VESA DisplayHDR 600 (1.1).

Should the 280/240Hz not be selected on the screen?

The cable is perfectly fine to support QHD 2560 x 1440, 240 Hz, 10bits as this is the almost the limit of DP1.4.

Are your drivers up to date?

Yes my drivers are up to date.

The cable is just faulty.

After a lot of trouble shooting, I am able to see 270Hz and 240Hz as an option once I reduce the overclock profile to 270Hz. The cable itself then begins to stream at 5.4 Gbps instead of 1.62 Gbps.

However, when I do this, regardless of what refresh rate I run at (i.e. 270Hz, 240Hz, 144Hz, 120Hz, 60Hz, etc…), my monitor will begin to turn black for a few seconds at a time then turn back on.

This issue resides when I turn the overclock profile back to 280Hz and the cable reduces its stream to 1.62 Gbps.

If I reduce the overclock profile or remove it completely, the cable will stream at 5.4 Gbps and flicker black screens again.

This issue does not occur with my other cables so I will just assume the cable is faulty.
