Yeah frustration comes in many forms, I wish there was a converter for £20 instead of having to purchase a 4k tv at £500 as I have a 28in 144hz Acer gaming monitor with gsync in which such a converter would allow me to connect my PS4 pro.

I know of one reason to use the slower (4K 30Hz) HDMI to DisplayPort adapters.

I bought two of those slower adapters from two different manufacturers which I can use with a DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI adapter to connect an old 30″ 2560×1600 Dual Link DVI display to HDMI 1.4 ports or some Single Link DVI ports that support HDMI 1.4 speeds because noone makes a HDMI 1.4 to Dual Link DVI adapter that actually outputs a Dual Link signal.

But 4K 60Hz would be even better because it would work for that first case, and also the case where I might want to connect a DisplayPort display to an HDMI port. For example, I have a motherboard that has 3 built in graphics ports: one DisplayPort, one HDMI 2.0, and one Thunderbolt 3. If I wanted to connect 3 identical DisplayPort only 4K 60Hz displays then I would need a HDMI 2.0 to DisplayPort adapter for one of the displays.

Um, okay.

Just adding i’m looking for this aswell. hopefully they will have one soon.

@MST1407 / Club-3d, would the cable your working on work for the HDCP 2 encrypted content aswell, such as netflix/amazon video?

or would a additional addon such as the hdfury be needed?

I too am in need for a cable like this (HDMI 2.0 to Display port) w/ 4k@60HZ.

What’s happening as of late and why the demand for this cable has skyrocketed is that anyone with a PS4 Pro, Xbox One S, (or the upcoming Scorpio) which require a  4k60hz signal have now hit the market. Anyone who wants to connect these devices to a 4k Monitor likely has to deal with a display port as most 4k PC monitors only support 30hz HDMI inputs with their display ports being the only ones to support a 4k60hz signal. Anytime you try to connect the PS4 Pro / Xbox One S to a 4k30hz HDMI input, it just gives you 1080p at best.

It’s unfortunate though that this wasn’t seen earlier. Whoever can get this product out first is likely to gain a foothold in that market.

Got another guy here that wants this adapter Hdmi 2.0 to displayport 1.2 w/4k@60hz :p

I have an Acer b276hk and I just recently got a ps4 pro as well, only to find out that they decided to not support hdmi 1.4.  I really don’t want to buy a new monitor or tv, but I don’t want to miss the experience of games like FFXV and Uncharted 4 in 4k glory :p  Games like Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider have shown me that 4k is a wonderful wonderful thing.

Same issue here. We need HDMI 2.0 to DP 1.2 adapter or cable.

Otherwise it impossible to get 4K 60Hz on 4K monitors without HDMI 2.0.

This issue has come up as I have tried to get 4K 60Hz with my Nvidia Shield and ASUS PB287Q monitor.

Please keep us updated as to the release/news of this adapter.

I’m in the same boat. Many of the early 4k displays and tv only allowed 4k @60hz via (m)DP. The new Xbox One S and Playstation Pro only have hdmi 2.0 out. We are all stuck. Do you guys need a kickstarter or reservations to get these in production. I’m sure many of us will absolutely support you.

on 13-01-2017

Thanks.
I will be updating here as soon as i have info for you (all) on when we will be able to release this product. Does not look to be before end Q2 2017 as it is now …

Considering:
Release of HDMI 2.1 and the 144Hz 4K monitors at CES2017…

Might I suggest doing this right the first time and creating an HDMI 2.1 to DP 1.4 adapter? (ie. 32.4 Gbps bandwidth)

Thanks for the update!

Neo919 How does that affect devices that are DP 1.2 and hdmi 2.0? Would that kind of cable give them a performance boost. Probably not, right? But they would be backwards compatible.

Apparently wont be affected but given the better cable requirement for HDMI 2.1 it means you’ll get full bandwidth for sure 😉

I would pay like $100-$200 for this converter…. My PS4 Pro doesn’t work with my high end 4K PC monitor 🙁

My monitor is better than most of the recent ones that are compatible 🙁

I’ve got the exact same monitor. Frustrating isn’t it!

on 17-01-2017

$100-$200?
Like MrBriz said, “+1 for any kind of pre-order or kickstarter. I’d put my money in”. But $200 for a final product is more than I’d pay, especially considering that Brazilian import taxes are abusive…
I trust the value will be reasonable. 😉
MST1407 – How much (or at least within which limits) do you think Club 3D would charge for the cable/adapter?
Thanks

on 17-01-2017

As long as it’s less than a new monitor…i’d say $100-200 sounds pretty reasonable especially if it supports HDMI 2.1 as that would make it quite unique…

on 17-01-2017

Initially, I respect diverse opinions and understand that healthy debate is always beneficial. 😉

I think a product has its own cost (including research and tests among others). It does not seem reasonable, however, that its price be determined solely by another product of which it would be merely an appendix. Market parameters should be, I think, broader. How many consumers would pay 200 for something that (I suppose) is worth less than 200? I might prefer to buy a used 4k TV (with a bigger screen and an HDMI 2.0 input) for a little more “only” for the video game, and keep the monitor just for the computer.

The business decision is also up to the consumer.

The intense pain of trying to go from PC, 4K,75Hz(I overclocked it), 4ms response and insane contrast/pixel density gaming to PS4 Pro 1080p 40″… Cannot be described.

Especially when the TV options are all 30-40ms lag and have the pixel density of a fuzzy potato..  Not going to buy one, just give me the converter. 🙂 $$$$ Throwing money at screen nothing is happening…

on 18-01-2017

just my personal estimation, so don’t kill me over it, but i would think end-user price wihtout vat will be around  35 to 40 USD

on 18-01-2017

Setting a reasonable price is a challenge (part of the business, obviously).

But it seems overcomed! I’d pay it!

Does anyone know if this will support HDCP content?

on 18-01-2017

If the converter/splitter supports 2.2 input then the output doesn’t matter after the conversion. 🙂

I am happy about the news about the HDMI 2.0 to DP 1.2.  I got myself a Asus ROG PG27AQ, and forgot when I got my Playstation pro had HDMI 2.0.

on 21-01-2017

I am in the same boat as well, i have a Samsung U28D590D don’t have HDMI 2.0
but only DP 1.2 and HDMI 1.4
I will buy  HDMI 2.0 to DP 1.2,  as soon it release in France.

Is the adaptor/ converter still on course for a Q1 release?

Eagerly waiting for release here in the UK to use with my Asus pb287q with my PS4 Pro! 😀

on 25-01-2017

Yeah still waiting on this. I also have the ASUS PB287Q and need it to hook up the Nvidia Shield TV.

on 25-01-2017

Does not look to be before end Q2 2017 as it is now …

on 25-01-2017

Hi @MST1407 I’m assuming by end Q2 you mean some time around June 2017?

on 25-01-2017

@MST1407 Yeah does this mean by June or is there any plans to have this out to the market earlier than that. June is still 5 months away – hence why I ask. Wondering if its really gonna take the development team a full 5 months to simply get the cable out. Unless you guys have production issues, I guess…

on 26-01-2017

Hi All,
The plan is to have it asap, however i do not expect it before end June as it is now.
Currently there are no suitable chips available to us for such high resolutions.

on 26-01-2017

@MST1407 So you’re actually waiting on a chip to be brought to market? I’m guessing this is something that might be outside your control? Have you be made aware or are you already developing a chip that will be capable of what you need? I’m just trying to get straight in my head if you guys have everything you need to actually start the development work, or if there are things outside your control so we are actually waiting on another company to produce chips before you can do anything. (hope that makes sense!)
