Good day Nick,
Please chek if there is a driver update for your graphics.
For setup with TV’s it normally work best to make a custom resoltuion for 3840x2160p at 60HZ with Timing Standard set to CVT-Reduced Blanking (RB). Not sure if Display Menu will allow you to do that, but a grogram like SwitchResX will.
Hi Spike Rules,
Unfortunately we have heard of more issues with the latest AMD driver in combination with “older”cards. Although the driver update 16.9.1 and newer seem to work fine for RX400 series, it does not seem to bring much for “older” cards.
I understand and respect that remaining at older drivers should never be the goal, but it can serve as a helpfull temparory solution. I know that AMD is working hard at getting all issue sorted, although they will never publicly make such a statement, i have never before seen so many Driver Updates in such a short time … Also our R&D and Factory are trying to source the isuse so parhaps we might be able to offer solutions.
It should work just fine on Driver 16.8.3 you can find here:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous/detail?os=Windows%2010%20-%2064&rev=16.8.3
Will keep you posted on progress.
good to hear it work now for you 🙂
good to hear it works for you now 🙂
the adapter itself is plug & play, however you might need to do settings on you PC System and/or TV or Screen.
For use with TV it normally works best to make a custom resolution in the Grpahcis Driver for 3840x2160p at 60Hz with Timing Standard set to CVT-Redeuced Blanking (RB). For use with Monitor the Timing Standard can remain at Automatic.
i am asking because you said that the HDMI2.0 output of the card is not working at 4K 60Hz because of the OS … why would the DP output work at 4K 60Hz with the same OS ?
by the way i would just use the CAC-1170 instead of CAC-1070 + MiniDP-to-DP adapter
Please do this:
Uninstall current graphics driver software.
Manually downloaded and installed (don’t let that auto-updater from Intel do that) Intel Graphics Driver pack 15.40.25.4463, which contains Display Audio Driver 6.16.00.3197 plus Graphics driver 20.19.15.4463. Open Intel Graphics Control Panel, Chose “Custom Resolutions” (left bottom option) It will asks you if you wish to continue; YES
Standard the “Basic” setting is shown, click on “Advanced” , Fill in; Width 3840 ; Height 2160 ; Refresh Rate 60 ; Timing Standard CVT-RB ; and click on “ADD” on the right bottom of the window.
Now this resolution I added to the system and can be chosen. Go back to “General Settings”(left top) , it will show the basic options and here you can now choose the 3840×2160 resolution and 60Hz.

Please check if all Power / Energy Safe features of the system and of the screens are switched off.
Will also send you an email from [email protected]
your MAC does support 4k 60 Hz from the DP output ?
Normally only MAC’s from MID 2013 or newer do that i read online …
good you have it working.
Thanks for the feedback.
Which HD7850 do you have ? Club3D CGAX-7856M6 ?
For a HD7850 card to be able to support more than 2 screens the Eyefinity Feature needs to be enabled. You do that by using a Displayport Output. OS needs to be WIN Vista or newer.
When using Screens with Displayport Input you can use Passive Adapters / Cables to connect from Card to Screen. (Although we always advise to use at least 1 active version, because in practice that seems to work better)
When using Screens without Displayport Input you need to use Active Adapters / Cables to connect Screen 3/4/5/6.
The first 2 are always natively supported so they can be connected with passive adapters at all times, although it will of course also work with Active Adapters.
Passive Adapters:

CAC-1101 = Mini DP to HDMI 1.4 Passive Adapter

Active Adapters:
