Black screen for milliseconds with CSV-7200H

5 on 16-04-2025

Hi,

i have the CSV-7200H since one day and got also the black screen for some ms. Cables OK. resolution OK, power ok.  I’d be really grateful if you could send me a non-HCDP and the HCDP firmware too. So I could test if the HCPD is the problem or not. THX so much!

I don’t think MST hubs have different firmwares for dealing with HDCP.

What display are you having a problem with?

Did you verify that the display doesn’t have black screen issue when connected directly (without the MST hub)?

I have a display that does go black momentarily periodically if the brightness is set over 80%. I think it’s getting old.

What chip does the CSV-7200H use? If you can get the DPCD info, it may have the information.

If it’s a Synaptics chip, then you can get some utilities in the Microsoft App Store that can get more info, backup the firmware and update the firmware (if you have an updated firmware).

Hi joevt,

I found this:

https://insights.club-3d.com/thread/flickering-and-black-screen-for-0-25s-cac-1010-club3d-displayport-to-dvi-d-hdcp/

they suggest linux, so would be cool to manage it with windows, thx. After all, I ve got no better idea about these problems and a solution. Thx!

That’s a really interesting issue, and the “black screen for a few milliseconds” symptom with the CSV-7200H usually points to a brief signal re-sync happening in the chain rather than a full failure — which is why it can be so frustrating to troubleshoot. In most cases, this kind of blink is caused by an unstable HDMI handshake, a resolution/refresh-rate mismatch, HDCP renegotiation, or even a cable/port that’s just slightly inconsistent under load. I also liked that you brought it up in such a specific way, because those tiny dropouts are often early warning signs before the problem becomes constant. It honestly reminds me of Trolli Gummy Pops — everything’s fine and sweet, and then randomly you get that one piece that feels “off” for a second 😄. Have you noticed if the black flash happens during specific actions (switching sources, playing protected content, or changing resolution), or does it happen completely randomly?
